An interesting piece that starts from some facts. The founder and CEO of Instagram, Kevin Systrom, was the protagonist of the launch of the new social video platform, IGTV, which was held in San Francisco on Wednesday 20 June.

Why from photos to TV? Because it is undeniable that, compared to a few years ago, today’s young people are seeing less and less TV preferring to use online and social platforms.

It was Systrom himself who explained this choice through two specific data:

  • Instagram is used today by 1 billion people a month
  • The growth in the use of videos on Instagram is around + 60% on an annual basis.

That’s why the time has come to make official entry into the increasingly promising market for online (quality) movies. The disappeared stories, snatched from Snapchat, have been an excellent Trojan horse.

But how exactly does the new IGTV work?

This is a different app from Instagram (but with a section in the main one) available, of course, for both Android and App Store.
